Leeds fans have been reacting to the news that January signing Aapo Halme has returned from a foot injury, and it doesn’t seem like the signing was a very memorable one.

Aapo Halme, a 19 year-old Finnish centre-back, signed for Leeds in January for a fee in the region of £500,000.

The young defender was set to join Carlos Corberan’s Under 23 side with a view to join the senior side later on, but has been hampered by a foot injury he picked up in January.

Halme has been unable to even train since joining, which could severely hamper his chances of first team football next season. He has now returned to training.

Needless to say, Leeds fans are not particularly happy with Victor Orta’s recruitment strategy, as a remarkable amount of his signings seem injury prone.

Yosuke Ideguchi was another player signed in January with long-term plans, but the Japanese international has played just five times for his loan club Cultural Leonesa in the second tier of Spanish football.

The Gunners would face competition, though, as the Daily Star recently reported that Chelsea are expected to appoint Allegri as Antonio Conte’s replacement this summer.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted in interview with ESPN Brazil that every team needs a Brazilian player.

What’s the word?

The Red Devils will be in the market this summer for a handful of players as they try to compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

While speaking to ESPN Brazil, the Portuguese coach spoke of the importance of having a Brazilian in any football team.

One man that is unlikely to be arriving at Old Trafford this summer is Chelsea star Willian.

The 29-year-old winger played under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, but the United boss does not think that the Blues will sanction a transfer due to Nemanja Matic’s switch last summer.

“I think that a team without a Brazilian isn’t a team, but also, a squad with three or four Brazilian athletes, depending on their profile, cannot make a great team too. I’m kidding! Who knows we can have a Brazilian in the squad next year. I don’t believe it will be Willian, because Chelsea won’t make it possible.”

One area that United are likely to be looking at this summer is midfield due to impending departures.

Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are also said to be considering an approach at the end of the season, but it is thought that Fernando, who has a contract in Russia until the end of the 2020-21 campaign, prefers a move to the Premier League.

Newcastle United fans don’t appear keen on right-back Ryan Fredericks, despite being linked with a move for him earlier this week.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the attacker, but Tottenham are also believed to be in the hunt ahead of the 2018-19 season.
